Photos help sell your holiday rental. Without them, people won’t know what to expect, so they’ll hesitate to make that booking. However, poor or inadequate photos can be just as bad as none at all.

Here are some tips to help ensure you cover all the essentials when taking your holiday let photos.

Flaunt a good view!

People are drawn to holiday rentals that have sensational views. It could be over the sea, across a river, out over fields or anything in between. If you have a good view make sure you take a picture of it – preferably on a nice sunny day. If it looks particularly attractive when there is snow, take a picture of that view too. This is good to help tempt people to book a  winter holiday at your rental.

Don’t forget the exterior

The front of your holiday let is the first image people will see when they arrive, so provide a photo of it. Make it look clean and tidy but don’t deceive people – if it looks luxurious with pot plants and hanging baskets in the photo, make sure that is what people will see when they arrive for their holiday.

If your holiday rental has a garden, include one or two pictures of this as well. Any patio area should be visible, and the photo should indicate how close the patio is to the property. You can stage any photo you take to give an even better impression; why not open up the barbecue and get some food cooking so you can include it in the picture? Dress the patio table with cutlery and crockery too, to complete the look. It is far more tempting than something plain and uninteresting.

Cover all the bedrooms

People book holidays with a specific number of people – and therefore beds and bedrooms – in mind. Make sure you show them exactly what they will get. The master bedroom should show the bed and the en-suite if it has one. Take the picture on a bright day so you get good light flooding into the room.

Back this up with good pictures of every other bedroom as well. If you have a sofa bed in the lounge that opens up to accommodate two people, include it in the pictures. You may want to have one picture of the lounge as it is normally, and another one showing the made up bed.

The heart of the home

This is the kitchen, and since people are opting for a holiday rental they’ll want to know they can easily cook meals there. Make it look appealing and ensure you tidy the worktops so you only present the minimum of items there. You’ll have space elsewhere to list the appliances and extras you include. Make sure the fridge, freezer, oven and hob are all visible if possible.

In short, focus on all the important areas of your holiday let and make them look as attractive and appealing as possible.
