If you aren’t yet using Pinterest to help promote your holiday let, there has never been a better time to do so.
It takes less than a minute to sign up (you can do so with Facebook or with an email address) and you’re then free to create your own boards on which to pin images. Everything is easy to access from your account details at the top right of every page.
Here are some tips for thinking visually when you get started with Pinterest.
Create more than one board
The more boards you have the more likely it is that your pictures will be found. Try creating one for the interior of your holiday rental property, another one for the exterior (garden boards are very popular) and a third for the local area.
Pin images to them regularly and remember to share them via Twitter, Facebook and Google+ as well when you pin them. This is easy to do – just go into settings and link your Pinterest account with your other social media accounts.
Share images of updates to your holiday let
Whenever you update, renovate or redecorate your holiday rental property, make sure you take photos. Adding these to your Pinterest boards will help generate fresh interest in your property. Add a description too – you don’t always have to use keywords here but a short descriptive sentence or two certainly helps people identify the photos.
Encourage interaction with other users
There are lots of ways you can do this. For example you can pin pictures of plants in your garden and ask people to identify them. Alternatively pin pictures of attractions and places to go in the local area and invite people to share their opinions of them.
Share ideas
If you can share good ideas you have come up with, you will encourage people to repin your own pins. For example, maybe you’ve built a particularly good barbecue for your guests to use. Share photos and tips so people can replicate it themselves. The more repins you get, the more likely it is that more people will find out about your holiday rental. They will spread the word for you!
Use pins from your website to drive traffic back to it
You can add pins to your boards in several ways, but searching your website for images is the best way. You can then link back to the appropriate page so people will be more likely to follow the link and read more about your holiday let on your dedicated website.
In truth the more you use Pinterest the more you will get out of it. Be sure to follow other people and engage with other users too – because this will increase your visibility.
But assuming you think visually whenever you sit down to pin something new, you really can’t go far wrong. Pinterest can be a strong and engaging marketing tool for holiday rental owners. So the sooner you create a profile and start sharing photos, the better.
