If your answer is ‘never\u2019 you’re definitely not alone.<\/p>\n
The immediacy of social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter encourages you to post whatever you\u2019d like, whenever you like. Having a holiday let to post updates about, allows you plenty of choice for the kind of topics to share. Such as :<\/p>\n
And the list of ideas goes on.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s natural to be excited about these updates and to feel as if you need to share them as soon as possible.\u00a0But here are three reasons why you shouldn\u2019t, and instead take a little time to reflect before hitting the ‘tweet \/ post \/share’ button:<\/p>\n
1: An edited message is a stronger message<\/strong><\/p>\n It’s pretty unlikely that a quickly drafted update reads perfectly first time round, unless of course you’re Mark Twaine, but even he may have had some trouble adapting to the limited character allowance I’m sure!<\/p>\n In reality, you’re likely to be able to do better in a second or third draft. In many cases, much better.<\/p>\n Wouldn\u2019t you rather release messages that pack a real punch?<\/p>\n You can if you get into the habit of writing and editing before you send. It works well to write half a dozen about your holiday rental and then leave them aside for a while. Come back fresh, edit, make improvements and then post them gradually.<\/p>\n 2: You can ensure you use words that will be searched for and found<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s great to send a tweet that says \u2018Look what\u2019s going on near my holiday rental this week!\u2019 along with a picture, but does it really send a powerful message? Some people will be curious and click on the picture, but the words still don\u2019t elaborate or help when it comes to organic searches.<\/p>\n Using relevant words, such as the location and the event or attraction you\u2019re tweeting about, is a better idea. That way if someone is searching for information on that event or location, your post is more likely to appear.<\/p>\n Include hashtags too where possible. This is a simple way to get even more people finding your post, those you’re not yet connected with.<\/p>\n So jot down the most important words to add to your update and work those into the message before<\/em> sending.<\/p>\n 3: Can you make it visual?<\/strong><\/p>\n The easiest way to post any message on any social media site is simply to write it and post it. It takes a little more work to provide visual aids as well.<\/p>\n You\u2019ll know Pinterest relies on images with the words coming as secondary, so that makes using visual aids pretty straight forward.<\/p>\n However when it comes to Facebook and Twitter you don\u2019t need to worry about images so much.<\/p>\n Except you should.<\/p>\n Look at a page on Facebook \u2013 what do you see?
