So how can you find out which of your efforts are working and which are not?<\/strong><\/p>\n By analysing the numbers, using Google Analytics.<\/p>\n Google Analytics will tell you all this and more.<\/strong><\/p>\n And the best thing – it\u2019s totally free!<\/p>\n So as soon as your website is live and you\u2019re ready to start promoting it online, setup your Google Analytics account to see where your website traffic is coming from and what exactly they\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s how …<\/strong><\/p>\n First,\u00a0Create an account<\/a><\/p>\n Sign up with your Gmail account (if you don\u2019t have one go through the steps to register a Gmail account).<\/p>\n Set up a new account for your website and enter details into all the fields provided:<\/p>\n Once you\u2019ve completed all sections, click Get Tracking ID<\/strong><\/p>\n You will then be provided your unique Google Analytics Tracking ID<\/strong> and tracking HTML code.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re using a website builder it\u2019s possible you will have a section within your content management system where you can add your Google Analytics Tracking ID, if so copy it and paste it in to that relevant section.<\/p>\n If not, you may need to copy the website tracking<\/strong> HTML code and paste it into the code of every page you want to track.<\/p>\n To navigate back to your main Google Analytics dashboard, click on Google Analytics<\/strong> in the top left corner of the screen:<\/p>\n Then click into All Website Data<\/strong> to see your current stats.<\/p>\n Of course since you\u2019ve only just set your account up, there\u2019ll be no stats to show.<\/p>\n The stats should arrive within 24 hours.<\/p>\n In the meantime you can take a look around the site and familiarise yourself with the data that can be obtained.<\/strong><\/p>\n Data such as:<\/p>\n And so much more.<\/p>\n You don\u2019t need to be a big business to benefit from using this tool.<\/strong><\/p>\n You should be reviewing your analytics regularly – at least once a month – to get an idea of how your website is being found and what people are doing when they arrive.<\/p>\n This arms you with information to help determine what marketing channels you should spend time on<\/em> – knowing they\u2019re working.<\/p>\n Channels that target the right people<\/em>.
