A great way of doing this is to get a website up and running. This gives you space to write about it, provide essential information and to add photos of the property.

That last part can be a stumbling block for many. Unless you happen to be a competent and keen photographer, you may not think you can produce photos that will look good on your website. Of course, you could always hire someone, but that can be an expense you don’t necessarily have the funds to cover.

So let’s look at one particular aspect of photography that can make a big improvement to the photos you take.

In this piece, we’ll look at the use of colour and how it can catch the eye of someone who is browsing on your website.

Consider colour when taking photos

It doesn’t matter whether you are taking photos indoors or outdoors. Colour can enhance any photo and give it extra ‘pop’.

Let’s say you’re taking pictures of the exterior of your holiday let. Do you have any plant pots filled with brightly-coloured flowers to add into the shot before you take it?

Another good way of introducing colour is to set up a small table and chairs with a colourful table cloth and some place settings.

You don’t need to have tons of colour to make your holiday rental photos look superb. You just need a splash here and there to catch the eye of someone who might be looking to make a booking.

There are plenty of things you can do indoors as well.

For example, an array of colourful magazines on a coffee table, a vase of flowers or even a bright blanket draped over the sofa, cushions or a rug– all these things can work.

Experiment and don’t be afraid to fail

If you’re using a digital camera, you’ve no need to worry about wasting film. So try different shots and introduce colour in lots of different ways, both inside your property and outside.

Some things will work, others won’t. But at least you get a good mix of shots to choose from, and you’ll be learning all the time as well.

It’s well worth getting a tripod to help you take nice sharp pictures as well. It eliminates blurred and wobbly pictures, which can ruin any colour compositions you might create.

Take photos when the property has just been cleaned throughout, so you can be sure it is looking its best.

Splashes of colour certainly do draw the eye in. However, don’t be afraid to consider blending colours of the same type together either.

Lots of creams and browns, for example, can look very relaxing – ideal if someone wants to get away from it all for a week.

Now it’s over to you – how will you introduce colour into your holiday let website?

If you own a holiday rental property, your main concern will be to try and promote that property and to take bookings from people who want to stay in it.
