Our old website for a previous property had to be built for us by someone else, at great expense (and time and effort) about eight years ago - but since then I'd seen many advertisements for do-it-yourself sites.
"It surely can't be all that difficult to do", I thought, when it came time to change properties and build a new website. But it was so confusing. What I wanted was a build-your-own-website that was specifically geared for people like us who have a holiday home to rent out. A site that allows you to put loads of pictures on, has an availability calendar, a map of the location, and an easy way to display rental rates.
I wanted somewhere for people like me who aren't very technically minded, people who don't know what HTML is all about, and people who don't have lots of spare time or spare cash.
I presumed that I would need to build a website and then adapt it to our own requirements, in order to promote our place in France. "But hang on a minute", I thought. "Maybe there's something out there already".
Thank goodness I Googled around and came across PromoteMyPlace. I went with the free trial period and got started straight away, almost expecting to give up at the first hurdle because of my technical incompetence. But it was so easy that I continued, and finding that I was enjoying the experience.
It was easy to change things as I went along, and easy to publish. And incredible value too. The advice offered, and answers to questions were quickly forthcoming with a friendly, personal attitude from the people at PromoteMyPlace.
PromoteMyPlace ticked all the boxes I was hoping for. But the biggest box ticked was the one I wasn't expecting - it was fun.
