Why You Should Offer Free Wi-Fi in Your Holiday Rental

Many people like to get away from it all when they book a holiday rental. However, getting away from it all doesn’t automatically mean foregoing access to the internet for a week or two. That’s why you need to make sure that your accommodation appeals to a wider audience by providing free Wi-Fi as part of your holiday package.

In case you’re wondering why this should be the case, here are some convincing reasons why offering this additional service is beneficial to your rental business.

Your guests may need to stay connected to work

While some of us can leave our jobs behind for a week or two to go on holiday, this doesn’t apply to everyone. By providing Wi-Fi you’re opening up your holiday let to people who have to be able to stay connected with work.

Some guests will bring their own iPad or laptop with them while on holiday, so providing Wi-Fi will be essential to whether they book your accommodation or not.

It makes looking for local attractions and sights much simpler

While you can and should leave leaflets to help give holidaymakers some ideas of what they can see and do locally, providing Wi-Fi means they can go online via their phones, tablets and laptops as well. This way your guests can find out opening hours, public transport connections, look up restaurant reviews, and anything else that may not be contained within the promotional leaflet. Don’t forget to point this out to them in your holiday rental welcome pack, thus ensuring they can access the latest up to date information.

It means guests can discuss their holiday via social networking sites

With social media being so popular these days, many people share their experiences in real-time, particularly whilst on holiday so they can show their friends and family what a wonderful time they’re having and all the great things they’re doing. So if people are having a great time at your holiday rental, they are likely to share those feelings whilst away – but only if they have the opportunity to do so. Providing Wi-Fi gives them that opportunity, and it gives you some free marketing! Who knows what referral business you could receive from past guests sharing their holiday in this way.

Furthermore it even means you can inspire them to recommend your holiday rental by leaving a review online before they leave. They are far more likely to do it then, than wait until they get home when the holiday fades into a distant memory.

It’s better to have it than not

One survey revealed a third of travellers on the whole (i.e. not just business travellers) specifically looked for Wi-Fi when searching for somewhere to stay. If your holiday let has Wi-Fi, it could tip the balance between choosing it or going elsewhere.

And finally, if you do offer Wi-Fi in your holiday rental, don’t forget to:

Add the relevant Wi-Fi information to your welcome pack

You should already have a welcome pack in your holiday rental that contains all the relevant information about the property and local area. Don’t forget to add the Wi-Fi information as well. This includes details of how to log in to the service, the secure Wi-Fi code, the location of the Ethernet cable for those who may have trouble with a Wi-Fi connection so need to connect via a cable instead, etc.

As you can see Wi-Fi now plays an important factor to holiday makers when deciding what accommodation they will book, so by installing it at your holiday rental, you will stand a much better chance of attracting more bookings from a wider range of people.
