Most business owners will use social media to help drive traffic to our website. However it’s not always necessary to use all social media sites.
In fact sometimes it can be detrimental because you won’t give adequate time to each.
Finding the one where your target market is and that you enjoy spending time on is the key to whether social media marketing works for your holiday let.
Having said that, Pinterest is particularly good for promoting holiday rental properties because it’s highly visual in nature.
So with that in mind, and we’re assuming you are using Pinterest to drive more traffic to your website, here are three things you should change on your website to ensure you get more pins and more traffic.
1. Use great photos on your website
If you want people to pin photos of your holiday rental, make sure you give them a great choice!
Ensure every page on your site has at least one good photo worth sharing. Vary the photos as much as you can – seasonal shots, unusual photos and ones that show your property and garden off to their best are ideal.
Keep an eye on what types of photos get pinned most often. This will help ensure you can add more of the same to your site and get even better results.
2. Encourage people to pin from your website
Make things easy for them and provide a ‘pin it’ button for them to click on to pin something they like to their own board on Pinterest. This helps to spread the word about your website and your holiday rental.
It can also work well to actually point out to people they can pin your images.
You can do this casually underneath each picture or in the page content. Add something like ‘If you love this image feel free to pin it to your own boards on Pinterest.’
It’s simple and grants permission; some people may not pin if they’re not sure about doing so, while others simply may not think of it unless you suggest it.
3: Make a splash with a Pinterest widget
You’ll need to sign up for a Pinterest business account to gain access to the best widgets.
Once you are up and running you can go to their widget builder page to create a board you can add to your website.
We’ve already mentioned the importance of getting visual with your website and this is the perfect way to do it.
You can showcase as many as 30 pins from the board that represents your holiday let. Choose your preferred board size or build your own and then add it to your website.
Visitors can then find you on Pinterest and also repin your own images.
There are lots of other things you can do to drive more traffic both to and from your Pinterest boards and your website.
However these three steps are all reasonably easy to get started with.
As you see results starting to build from them you can start looking into more ways to make a difference.
Pinterest is a highly visual social media platform and it is ideal for holiday let owners. However the more you know about using it the easier it is to generate more traffic from it.
How will you start?
