Do you tend to broadcast only written posts on your social media accounts?
If so, you might want to take a look at how your social profiles appear to others?
While written content is all very good – and should be used regularly – it can look a little dull when used alone. Adding photos, on the other hand, gives the page some life. Images have greater stand-out and can engage the viewer more readily.
Try taking a look at some other social media accounts. You’re bound to see a real mix. Which ones look good and have engagement, and which ones don’t? We’re betting that the ones which have a mix of text and images (and videos) will have more stand out, and appeal.
Still unconvinced?
Here are three of the more important and powerful reasons to add photos to your holiday let social media profiles:
1 – Show, don’t tell
Maybe you remember this rule from English language classes at school, when you had to write a story. It’s the rule writers stick to when writing fiction, because it makes stories a lot more interesting to read.
But it can also work when you’re trying to promote your holiday let.
Instead of describing something in just a few words, why not give your followers a photo? It’s easier, and they can get a lot more information from that, than from a description.
2 – Photos are shared more often
Images, to be exact, whether they are infographics, photos or video, are statistically proven to be shared more frequently than text alone. And it’s easy to understand why – they generally require a lot less effort by the viewer to grasp.
Of course, you may also get text-based broadcasts that are shared a lot. But it’s definitely easier to take in information that appears in an image, than it is to try and get the same take-out from a piece of text – most of the time.
And remember, the more people who share your broadcasts, the more people you get your holiday rental business in front of. So try to make all your posts engaging as best you can.
3 – They add more depth to your social media profiles
Have you ever struggled to come up with posts to add to your Facebook page or Twitter feed?
You’re definitely not alone.
Yet, if you have a really striking image to share, you only need to upload it and perhaps add a few words to describe it – reducing the time and effort involved on your side – et voila, you have your latest update!
For example, if there’s a stunning beach near your holiday rental, snap a pic then all you’ll have to do is add the name and location of the beach – this is essential to include those all-important key words.
And even better, go a step further by adding that it’s within five minutes walk of your holiday rental. Now you’re really promoting your holiday let.
Simple yet effective ways of maximising engagement on your social media profiles.
Of course don’t broadcast photos and nothing else. Mixing it up is the key. Include some text-based broadcasts too. Some links to local events. And some fun one-liners for personal interaction – “Yay! The snow is coming!” – if that’s of benefit to your target market, etc.
By including photos and videos, you’re making it much easier to keep your social broadcasts regular and engaging.
