How often should you update you holiday let blog is a tough question to answer.
In truth, it could depend on a variety of things. Yet perhaps the most important element of all, is to choose a posting schedule you personally can maintain.
Realistically.
Don’t announce to your readers that you’re going to post daily and then disappear for a week.
Similarly, if you decide to post weekly, you should choose the same day each week. Readers appreciate a regular routine, and they’ll come to expect it.
How much do you have to say?
This is another important question to ask.
There’s nothing wrong with adding two posts a week to your holiday rental blog if you have something of value to say.
But remember you want to engage your audience to get them interested in your holiday let and its local area.
If you’re not confident that you’ve got enough valuable content to publish twice-weekly, don’t.
Let’s say then that you decide to publish one new article every week. Each article must focus on a specific topic. Each one should be written to a length that suits its topic.
Can you be confident in coming up with an exciting idea for a new post every single week?
If not, stick to one every couple of weeks, or even once a month.
Blogging is not about quantity. It’s about quality.
Remember that rule and you can’t go far wrong.
Start planning content in advance
No matter how well you do initially, there will be weeks when life will get in the way.
You’ll intend to write a post for your blog, but something will happen and it will get forgotten about. Put to the bottom of the pile. Suddenly, your schedule is blown and months have slipped by without an article in sight.
But this is easily overcome.
In order to have the best shot at maintaining your blog-writing schedule, start putting together a list of ideas as soon as possible.
You may well have categories for your blog posts, so write each category at the top of a sheet of paper (or put them in a spreadsheet – anything that works for you) and start from there.
Add titles and ideas to each column as you think of them.
By doing this, you’ll always have a stash of topics ready to choose from.
Additionally, you may want to write one or two posts in advance, so you have a couple of to draw on if ‘life’ does get in the way and you don’t have time that week or month.
So going back to our earlier question – how often should you update your holiday let blog? – the answer is, as often as you should based on the quality content you can create and the time you have available.
