We’ve just released a whole load of great new features on PromoteMyPlace to give you even more functionality and flexibility.
You will notice some fundamental changes to the look and feel of the admin area when you login. In order to incorporate some of these changes we had to rearrange things slightly and the menus for the website editor are now down the left hand side instead of across the top.
New features are as follows:
Edit Main Menu Text
It’s now possible to change the text of the default menu items. Perhaps you’re not keen on the default ones we chose, or you want to be a bit more descriptive about a page? Well now you can! Go to ‘Website Basics’ select ‘Edit Main Menu’ and change them to suit. Just try to keep them short and sweet. There’s a limited amount of space on the menu and shorter menu items are quicker and easier to read.
Add Custom Pages
You can now add custom pages to your website. We’ve had a few of you ask if you can add terms and conditions to your website, or a page about something specific to your area, such as top local golf courses. It’s now possible to add pages with text and photos about anything you like. These can either be added as a link on the main menu, as a sub menu item or as a link on the footer menu (replacing the defaults). So, if you want to split things up a bit and have multiple pages under ‘Details’ or ‘Local Area’ you can. You can even link to an external page on another website. This could be useful if you have an existing blog that you would like to link to.
New Badges Widget
This new widget can be used to display quality assurance badges, or badges from any organisations you are a member of that you want to let you website visitors know about. Upload the image with an optional link and it will be displayed in the side column. Alternatively if you have been given an HTML snippet to add to your website, this can be embedded here too.
New RSS Widget
This new widget allows you to embed links from an RSS feed on your PromoteMyPlace website. Perhaps you already have a blog? Or maybe you want to display local news? Whatever you like, providing there is an RSS feed for it you can embed in on your website using this widget.
You Tube added to Social Media Widget
We have added YouTube to the widget that displays social media icons. You can already add YouTube videos to your website, but if you have lots, you may prefer to include a link to your YouTube page. Add the URL and the YouTube icon will automatically be displayed on your website, along with Facebook and Twitter.
Finally, you will notice we are also now offering additional services, such as website setup (for new customers), custom template design, blog integration and search engine optimisation. Please see pricing page for full details – http://www.promotemyplace.com/pricing.aspx#additional
We hope you like the new additions.
As always, feel free to get in touch and let us know what you think.
