Have you got an account with Pinterest yet? If you haven’t and you’re eager to promote your holiday rental to a wider audience, this is the ideal site to use. It’s unlike any other networking site because it’s highly visual, enabling you to make the most of sharing various aspects of your holiday accommodation with other people.
So in case you’re not sure how to proceed, here’s our handy guide to doing just that.
1: Grab an account
If you have a Facebook or Twitter account you can use either of them to sign in; otherwise create a new one. Once you’ve confirmed your account via email you can get started.
2: Adjust your settings
This section is accessed via the top right hand corner; you’ll see a drop down menu there. Make sure you fill in each section, particularly the ‘about’ section. This allows you to add some personal information and details about your holiday let. For instance you could say “Owner of luxurious holiday let in Cornwall and lover of everything to do with Cornish life.” It’s a basic example but you get the idea.
3: Add content to your account
When you click on the ‘add’ button at the top of the website you’ll get an opportunity to either add a pin, upload a pin or create a board. You can create an entire board around your holiday let if you wish. Alternatively you might like to create a board around the interior of your holiday home and another one on the exterior. Think about what works best in your case.
There is no limit to the number of boards you can create, although it is best to keep it to a manageable number. You can create different titles for each one and perhaps appeal to a different audience too.
Here are some ideas for boards:
- Images of your holiday rental
- Images of the different seasons as experienced in your area
- Images on the local attractions and days out in your area
I’m sure you get the idea.
Just remember to add good captions for each photo so your visitors know what they’re looking at, and so they can be shared more easily.
4: Add new pins on a regular basis
You’ll find that adding pins regularly is a great way to get an increasing number of followers with an interest in your holiday rental. People will start to follow your activity and also repin some of your pins to bring them to a wider audience.
The best thing about Pinterest is that people get heavily involved with it and browse what it has to offer. So if you’re regularly pinning items to your boards you can be almost certain of attracting attention, particularly from people who are thinking about visiting the area where your holiday let is.
Remember to be creative with your pins, images and descriptions – it can make all the difference to your success on Pinterest. Take a look round and see how other successful boards are created and maintained. Which ones grab your interest and why? This will reveal how you can create your own boards to help promote your holiday accommodation.
