4 Reasons to Edit Content before Publishing

When promoting your holiday rental property there are two ways to do it:

  1. Forthrightly – encouraging people to find out more about your property and book now
  2. Subtlety – through various soft tactics such as content marketing

Let’s stick with subtlety for the purposes of this article – one great way to tackle that option is by writing blog articles.

But it’s not just writing them you need to think about. Editing them is just as important. And here’s why …

1. Editing means a smoother finished product

Have you ever read something and found it difficult to get from start to finish?

It isn’t necessarily the content that’s the cause. In fact, the content could be good. It could be a problem with the flow.

And often this is down to a complete lack of editing.

Whenever you write an article about your holiday let, a local event, attractions nearby, or something else, leave it a while before publishing.  Then after a few hours of not thinking about it, go back, read it again and polish it up.

You’ll be surprised at how much of it you may change, even when you thought the first version was good.

A few tweaks could make all the difference to the flow. And that could make all the difference to the response you receive.

2. Great writing makes your holiday rental sound even better

You’ll want to make sure your accommodation and its local area sounds enticing. After all, you want as many people as possible to enquire and make a a booking.

The simple technique of editing could play a significant part in achieving that end goal.

How have you described your holiday rental? What words have you used? Can you tighten up the writing to make sure it sounds more dynamic and appealing?

Again, you may be surprised at how much you can tighten up, and how much more effective it becomes.

3. You’ll pick up mistakes

No matter how well you know your holiday rental and the surrounding area, it’s easy to make the occasional mistake when writing your web copy.

By letting it sit for a while before editing, you’ll find it a lot easier to spot these mistakes.

This makes it easier to ensure you always provide the most accurate information for your would-be guests to read.

4. Editing makes it easier for your character to shine through

Writing content for your holiday let website isn’t always easy. You want to appeal to potential guests and outshine the competition.

One of the simplest techniques to do this, is through your writing (and decent photos of course!).

And again, editing your first version once, twice, even three times, will ensure you are providing great content full of your personality.

So take some extra time to write and edit your content from today onwards. You’ll probably be surprised by how much you change it for the better … and by how polished your writing becomes over time.

Measure your results by checking traffic stats and monitoring how long people stay on your site.

The longer they stick around, the more likely they are to make that all-important booking.
