It’s understandable that you’d want to focus the majority of your websites content on your actual holiday let, but it’s also a great idea to include as much information as possible about nearby activities that your guests can enjoy as well.
Wherever your accommodation is, there will be things that people can do nearby that might be of interest to them. If you provide interesting information on local activities you might just find you stand an even better chance of securing those all important bookings.
Why provide this information?
If people have to leave your website to see what’s available to do in your local area, they may not come back. Furthermore, if they come across a website for another nearby holiday rental property that does provide this information, they’re more likely to book with them.
In short you would be making it easy for potential guests to get all the information they need, whilst remaining on your website.
Exploring the local area
What does your area have to offer? Is your holiday rental in a mountainous location with access to skiing? Is it close to lakes or good walking or cycling routes? How about water sports? Vineyards? Theme parks? There will always be an angle to better promote your holiday rental.
Make a note of all the individual activities that are available nearby. And I mean everything. It’s then up to you to decide which ones could be a ‘pull’ to help reach potential guests. For those key activities, you could then create a separate page on your website.
This has a two-fold benefit.
Firstly people who are looking for accommodation in your area will know what they can do nearby without having to research it on their own.
Secondly it may get picked up by search engines. So people wanting to go skiing, hiking, cycling or take a wine tour, etc. will find your property and know that it’s a suitable base for their chosen activity.
Provide as much information as possible
For example, let’s say your holiday rental is located somewhere that’s ideal for walkers. You could indicate how many different recognised walks start close to your accommodation, plus how many start just a short drive away. You could also provide information on what equipment is kept at your property for people to use, whether there are any ‘watering holes’ on the routes, etc. The more information you give, the easier it will be for someone to decide to book your holiday rental.
The same applies to any other activity holidays your property might be well placed for. Provide information on mountain biking and where to rent the bikes from. Provide information on skiing passes and equipment rental if you are close to a ski run. Furthermore, if you can also provide your own recommendations and insights into whatever activities are nearby, it will give added value to your potential guests.
