Are you finding it a challenge to figure out how to promote your holiday rental?
Photography is all very well, as is the use of social media sites, but are you looking for some more inspiration?
If you’ve been taking photographs on a regular basis, you’ll very likely have some that date back a while. Perfect! This gives you the opportunity to start before and after photo entries on some of your social media sites.
Why before and after?
Well for one, it shows you’re continually making updates to your property. Which in turn shows that you’re a proud holiday rental owner and are keen to ensure it’s in the best possible state for your guests.
Secondly, they’re inspirational.
Not only do they create a talking point, they can give ideas to others about what they could do with their holiday rental. Or from viewing other before and after shots, you could get your own ideas for what to do next.
Oh and don’t think we’re talking about viewing before and after pics of other holiday rentals – take any business before and after ideas, then adjust it to work for you.
And finally, it also gives you a reason to tweet, post and share images about your holiday rental, while still keeping things as interesting as possible.
Here are some ideas of before and after projects you could share:
- A makeover of your holiday rental’s garden area
- New bathroom or kitchen installation
- New porch (or similar) area
- New barbecue and outdoor entertaining area
Once you start thinking of them, you’ll be inundated with ideas!
And don’t worry if there’s not a major difference in the photo – still share them. A quick coat of paint to brighten up the front door and some floral pots dotted on either side would make a huge difference to an otherwise dull area.
Great opportunity to have images shared
If you look on sites such as Pinterest which are driven by images, you’ll see that before and after pictures are particularly popular. They are more likely to be shared than standalone pictures since they have a story to tell. Even if the original room or décor was okay, your improvements can provide an even better outlook.
Of course, while many people might just appreciate your improvements, some will want to know where the property is. They might consider finding out more about staying there, and then you have a prospective customer to cater to.
Aside from this you can also write a short blog post about the improvements to direct people along to. This will drive traffic from your social media efforts along to your website, which in turn should help improve its positioning in the search engines in time.
You could always casually mention the property is a rental in the information given with your images. Perhaps something along these lines would be good:
“Check out the makeover I gave my holiday rental property in the Scottish Highlands! I think the new colours work really well with the surroundings.”
It’s only a short message but it just adds the fact that you’ve given your rental a make-over and where it’s located. Anyone looking for this would be more likely to find your photos and can then move on to your website from there.
Before and after photos can work very well in helping to draw in a new audience. Try a few and see how it works for you.
