Those of you using the translate widget on your PromoteMyPlace website will notice that it now looks a little different. Unfortunately we had to make a few changes, because Google has decided to discontinue the Google Translate API.
From Googles website – “Due to the substantial economic burden caused by extensive abuse, the number of requests you may make per day will be limited and the API will be shut off completely on December 1, 2011”.
Since limits have already been imposed we thought we’d make the changes now, so that you will not be affected by this.

A shame, as I feel that it is now much less obvious that the site is available in several languages. The options along the top of the page were better. I have many French visitors.

Hi Helen. We agree. Having the options displayed across the top of the page in the language of the country is more obvious. Unfortunately there is no way to do this with Google translate now. We will keep an eye out for other services that may allow us to do this in the future.
