Creating a Social Media Plan for Your Holiday Let

We’re well into 2015 now, so you should be full steam ahead with the marketing of your holiday let for this year.

Have you considered how you could launch a brand new social media campaign to help those marketing efforts?

Which sites would you use?

This is perhaps the most important step. Bite off more than you can chew now and you’ll end up failing in your plan before you’ve even started.

Step 1) Consider which social media channels you’re already using

  • Facebook?
  • Twitter?
  • Pinterest?

Any more than three could present management problems, especially if you’re short on time.

Step 2) Allocate time each day to focus on your efforts

The best way to make the most of your time is to use a software tool such as Hootsuite or Buffer that allow you to schedule posts and tweets with.

This really does make life easier because you don’t have to remember to keep going into your account to schedule new items.

You can also now find services (some of which are free like Viralwoot) that allow you to schedule pins for Pinterest.

Step 3) Have a plan for the whole year

Is this taking on too much at once?

Not if you have a holiday rental property you need to promote. Since this is a seasonal business in more ways than one, you need to plan ahead for your peak periods. You also need to know when your quieter periods are.

The best way to do this is with a large wall calendar where you can see the whole year at once.

Instead of blocking out areas such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, the summer holidays and Christmas, block out those areas that fall a month or so before them. These are the times when people will be searching for good deals on a holiday let that suits their needs.

You can then use this wall planner to help you assess the best times to post more tweets, messages and images than usual – ones that will grab attention and hopefully encourage them to book with you.

Step 4) Don’t leave it to chance

Any goal you want to set for yourself in life will be a lot easier to reach if you can plan for it step-by-step in advance.

This applies just as much to promoting your holiday let via social media as it does to anything else.

So take some time to sit down and plan what you could achieve this year.

How can you make sure your holiday rental is booked up in advance for every week that it’s available?

Social media can help.

It’s a great marketing tool, but it works best if you have a solid plan.

Make sure you put one of those together now, you might be surprised at what you can achieve in the space of a month, let alone a year.
