One of the first things people look for when considering a particular holiday rental is the amenities and facilities it has to offer. The only trouble is some websites make a treasure hunt out of trying to find them.
This is one instance where you need to make sure you make it incredibly easy for people to find the information they need in a hurry. Just because a visitor arrives on your website it doesn’t mean they’re prepared to hang around for ages looking for the information they want. Time is short – if they are serious about booking a holiday they’ll be serious about getting all the details they need now. If they cannot find them or cannot easily read the information when they do find it, they’ll go elsewhere.
Clearly you have to make it easy for them. How do you do this?
One page is all you need
The trick is to allocate a separate page that focuses on all the facilities your holiday let has to offer. Mark it clearly and make sure it is visible on every page. Not everyone will arrive on your website via the home page, so make it as clear as you possibly can.
By doing this you will ensure all the most important features are easy to find and explore.
Make notes – what do you need to include?
Before you start creating your dedicated amenities page, start by making some notes on a pad. Here are some of the basic items you should include:
• Number of bedrooms (and beds)
• Number of bathrooms
• Outdoor space available
• Parking spaces
• Specific kitchen equipment provided
• Outdoor equipment such as table, chairs, BBQ etc.
You get the idea, I’m sure. By making a rough list before you begin you’ll find the process of actually creating the page much easier. If it helps, walk through the property or visualise it in your mind so you don’t miss anything obvious. Try and focus on it from the client’s point of view too – what would they be looking for?
Think sections and bullet points
Even once you get to this stage and you know what you need to include, you can still go wrong and make the information unattractive for your visitors.
Fortunately it is easy to get right – simply break the information into convenient sections. Perhaps you could include a section for each room so you can list the facilities provided, and add another one for the exterior of the property.
Listing the facilities in bullet point fashion will also make it easier for each visitor to tell exactly what they will be getting from your holiday let. People don’t tend to read word for word online – they tend to scan the content they find instead. Bullet points make scanning far easier to do so you can give them all the relevant information without making it difficult for them to digest.
Once they have the information they will be able to make a decision on whether your holiday rental is just the one they’re after.
