Highlighting the best bits
Your holiday let website is in direct competition with many other websites also promoting holiday rentals. So you have to employ every single method you can to make sure you draw attention to the best things you have to offer to potential customers.
For example you ought to know the USP – unique selling point – of your property. But does it stand out so your potential customers know it too? Let’s say your holiday rental has its own private swimming pool. This would attract many people to consider it as a rental property, so the pool should be mentioned and displayed clearly on the front page.
Pictures mean as much – if not more – than words. Add a selection of photos to your home page, each highlighting one of the best features of your holiday let. There are many website designs that will allow you to do this so one image automatically scrolls to the next. It is a great way to add interest.
Do you have a highlights section?
Make it easy for people to see the highlights of your holiday let by putting them near the top of the page. This means they can see them without having to scroll down. A good way to do it is to add a box labelled ‘highlights’ and to include bullet points – perhaps two or three words long in each case – to pull out the plus points of your particular holiday let.
People never read every word on a website. They scan, taking in key areas and information and moving on. You have to use all available techniques to ensure you draw their eye to the most important content you have to share with them. A highlights box is a great way to do this.
Beefing up your content
Build on the most important details about your holiday rental by adding more information to your site. For example the USP of your property could be that it is perfect for families with young children. You can mention this on the home page and link to a special section on your website providing details of all the family friendly destinations that are nearby.
This takes the hard work out of researching the area as far as your guests are concerned. They can find out where they can go with the kids without leaving your website. Make it easy for them to find the information by highlighting it and add a call to action at the foot of the page. You could add something like this: “All the destinations featured above are within easy reach of the cottage. Make sure you book now to secure your holiday in this family friendly and well equipped property.”
One final tip – monitor the results produced by any changes you make. Nothing is set in stone; if you try something and it doesn’t work, move on to another solution. Eventually you’ll get the best possible site to result in more bookings.
