Are you using your local area to help you grab more holiday rental bookings? If you aren’t you’re missing out on an excellent way to make your rental property irresistible.
Remember your visitors won’t just be coming to see your holiday rental. They’ll be coming to explore the surrounding area, visiting attractions and doing lots of different things. If you make it easier for them to see the advantages of staying in your holiday let, it will have a positive effect on your bookings.
Here are some ideas you can make use of. No doubt you can think of plenty more.
Get active
You can be sure your guests will if your holiday let is close to some amazing mountain bike trails or hiking routes. Don’t rely on your guests to find this out – share the knowledge with them. Include on your website some of the local and best loved routes to take. You can add links to local companies that hire out mountain bikes and other relevant equipment, and perhaps recommend guided walks too for newcomers.
You could even leave mountain bikes at the property for your guests to use. How about a wet storage area for hiking boots, waterproof jackets and so on? Make sure you leave some Ordnance Survey maps out for your guests too, so they don’t have to worry about buying them. If you make it clear what guests can expect from your holiday let before they book, they’ll know it is the ideal base for walking, hiking and other activity holidays.
Share the knowledge about local landmarks and attractions
Make a list of all the attractions that are close by. Give rough distances and times to get there when travelling by car (include other travel methods too if you wish). You can mention all the highlights when promoting your holiday let.
Go one step further and create a page on your website for each attraction. You can even provide a link to their website (if they have one), so people can find out more. Some people like to book tickets for certain attractions once they have booked their holiday rental property, so this can be useful and will be much appreciated.
Suggest places to eat and drink at
Booking a holiday let means your guests will have the freedom to cook their own meals if they wish. But most people enjoy eating out from time to time as well. Create a list of the best eateries in your local area. Try and get a nice mix if you can – you could include information on your website of the ten best restaurants or pubs, for example. Again you can always link out to the official website for each one if people want to learn more.
In essence you are doing some of the homework on behalf of your clients. You need to show them just how well placed, convenient and desirable your holiday let is. Don’t just sing the praises of your property – sing the praises of the whole area too.
