For many of you the high season for your holiday rental is coming to close with the winter fast approaching, but for those of you with ski properties the high season is just about to start.
So are you ready to get as many bookings as you possibly can?
If you own a property in or close to a ski resort, make sure you take this opportunity to check that you’re ready for the coming season.
Check your calendar
There’s no excuse for not having a 100% accurate and up to date calendar. There’s nothing worse than someone seeing your holiday let is available, only to find that it isn’t the case at all once they contact you to make an enquiry. Alternatively you could miss out if it says your holiday let is unavailable when it actually is.
Check your photos
This is the time to take down your summer photos and replace them with winter ones. Show how your property looks in the snow and what it has to offer.
Think about Christmas and upload pictures to your website of your property beautifully decorated ready to welcome guests over the festive season. What about any regular events that take place throughout the winter, make sure you include pictures of those to help entice more bookings.
Update your ski information
Make life easy for your guests – give them all the information they need about the skiing and other winter sport activities nearby. Give clear resort information, list the ski areas, detail how many kilometres of piste there is and what level the skiing is most suitable for. If people need to go to another website for this information, they may find their holiday rental property elsewhere as well.
You should also assess the type of area it is and whether it’s family friendly or ideal for younger groups of people. Make sure your accommodation fits the appropriate market so you stand a better chance of getting more bookings. Don’t forget to indicate the type of nightlife and other facilities available locally as well.
Include other practical information on ski equipment hire and passes
Some people will have their own ski gear but this won’t apply to everyone. Provide links to companies they can book these items with in advance. Think of all the things people will need when booking this type of holiday and provide all the info so they have less to do. They’ll appreciate it!
You might even be able to do a deal with a local provider. If you recommend a customer the provider will give a discount on any equipment they buy or rent. This is an extra incentive for someone to book your holiday rental property.
Provide information on the entire season ahead
People book ski holidays all through the season. Some will head away for a festive break while others will catch the end of the season around Easter time. Make sure you provide information on the activities taking place locally throughout the entire period.
Don’t forget the people who don’t ski!
Skiing isn’t the only thing you can do during the winter. Make sure you highlight the other opportunities for a great winter holiday on your website and listing adverts as well. Walkers enjoy holidays all year round, and many attractions are open all year too. Be sure you appeal to everyone with your holiday let information.
It’s time to make the most of the ski season ahead. Are you prepared?
