We’ve just released an update to PromoteMyPlace which contains a whole load of changes that we think you should know about.
- Updated privacy policy – Most importantly we’ve updated our privacy policy to comply with EU privacy laws that come into effect today. See our updated Privacy Policy here. If you’re not sure what all the fuss is about take a look at our blog post – How Will the New EU Cookie Law Affect Your Website?
- EU Cookie law compliance for your Website – We have added a new page automatically to all PromoteMyPlace websites that details the cookies that are being used based on whether you are using Google Analytics and which Widgets you have activated. We have also added a new Widget called ‘Cookie Consent’ which you can use if you wish. This will ask your website visitors for permission before placing cookies on their computer. You’ll find further details in the ‘Widgets’ section.
- Page Content Editor now has more options– We’ve added a few more options to the page content editor to make editing pages easier. Those worthy of note are:
- ‘Full screen mode’ which allows you to make the editor full screen so you can see the content you’re editing more easily.
- ‘HTML mode’ which allows you to see the content of your page in HTML format and edit it if need be, giving you much more control. Just be careful, because you can easily break the page if you get the HTML wrong.
- ‘Paste as plain text’ – Pasting text after clicking this button removes any formatting so you don’t have to paste the content into a plain text editor such as Notepad first.
- ‘Paste from word’ – Allows you to paste content from Word documents and the editor will remove any Word specific formatting that might break the page.
- You can find out about the other options in the help system.
- Display Skype details on enquiries page – If you use Skype you can now added your Skype username to your enquiries page, so that enquirers can use Skype to contact you.
- Rental rates table – Monthly rates and choose columns– For those of you that wish to display a monthly rate in your rental rates table, this is now possible. You can now also choose which columns you want to display so that you can get rid of columns that contain no info.
- Changes to sub menus– It’s now possible to set up sub menus so that the parent menu item does not contain any content, so the user is forced to select from the sub menu. To do this, add a custom page as the main menu item and choose ‘Page Content’ > ‘None’.
- Image Upload Improvements– For those of you that missed the update about improvements to the image uploader see – Problems uploading images to your PromoteMyPlace Website?
- Performance Improvements – We’ve made a number of performance improvements over the past few weeks which mean that PromoteMyPlace websites are now a lot faster to load. This is great for your website visitors and search engines will love you for it too!
